Things To Consider

1. What is the class size?
Our studio boasts very small group sizes compared to other studios in our area. If the class has fewer students, each child will receive more personal attention & of course will learn more. Average class size at Dancensation is 6-8 students & the maximum class size is approx 12 students. Our smaller class sizes ensure that each child understands the material & that no student is overlooked. Remember, that everyone is a star at Dancensation.

2. Can I observe my little one in class?
Yes, we have large viewing windows in the lobby so that you can watch the entire class if you like. Our students become used to people watching them & are ready for the stage much earlier than expected. Of course, many parents choose to drop off their child each week, but if you enjoy watching your little one while they learn to sing & dance, then Dancensation is the place for you.

3. What type of flooring is used for dance classes?
Dance is an athletic activity which requires jumping frequently. This can put stress on the bones & joints. The best way to prevent injury for your child is to choose a studio with a professional flooring system. Many local studios only offer tile floors layed over concrete because a professional dance floor is very expensive. We are proud to offer a "state of the art" facility complete with Stagestep professional floors in both of our dance rooms. This guarantees the best treatment for our students bodies. Our marley surfaces prevent slipping & our floating dance floors are cushioned by 1000s of foam blocks to absorb shock when jumping.

4. What are the qualifications of the teaching staff?
Many of our teachers are professional musical theater performers who also currently work at Derby Dinner Playhouse & with Music Theater Louisville. We also have graduates from the Youth Performing Arts School on staff. Feel free to see our teacher bios which are posted in the lobby. We are proud to share these opportunities with our students.

5. What style of the arts is being taught?
Dancensation is proud to offer a "musical theater based" curriculum which is appropriate for all ages. We teach our students to sing, dance, tumble, play music & act. Our goal is to build well-rounded, confident performers who someday could perform at theme parks, cruise lines, dinner theater or Broadway.

6. Does my child have performing opportunities year-round?
YES, YES, YES !!!!! Our mission at Dancensation is to build confidence in our students through performing. Many other studios practice all year for just one recital at the end of the year. NOT at Dancensation. We perform year-round at Malls, Parades, Festivals, Charity Events, Kentucky State Fair & much more. And not just our advanced students, but all students are invited to perform. Remember, ALL students are stars at Dancensation. Holiday Festival Revue in December & Grand Recital in June are our two main performances of the year. But rest assured, your child will have the opportunity to wear their costumes more than just one time.

We also offer informative workshops throughout the year with special guest artists from across the country. We are proud to share these great opportunities with our students. And if the reward of the applause isn't enough, all of our students receive beautiful trophies at June's Grand Recital for their achievement of completing the year.

*Thank you for trusting us with your child's talent!
